Harvest Report - September 17, 2010
HRS
Harvest and sample collection progress continues to be slow this week because of rain showers in the Hard Red Spring wheat growing region. Approximately 83% of the spring wheat samples have been collected and analyzed for quality.  The majority of the samples to be collected are from Montana where harvest is 56% complete. The falling number average is 400 seconds indicating a sound wheat crop. Preliminary distributions indicate that almost 81% of the samples analyzed had a hectoliter weight of 79 kg/hl or higher compared to 86% last year.  Protein distributions on samples analyzed so far indicate that 50% of the samples are 14% or higher (12% moisture basis) compared to 36% last year.
