Harvest Report - May 23, 2008
HRW
The following HRW harvest update is from USW's May 22, 2008, Wheat Export Letter: Rodney Mosier, Executive Vice President, Texas Wheat Producers Board & Association, says combines are rolling in the Lone Star state. “Interstate Grain Corporation in Corpus Christi, Texas, took in some of the first loads of wheat the second week in April from the Rio Grande Valley area,” Mosier says. “The first week in May, some of the first loads were coming in from the San Antonio area around Uvalde. They just started cutting around Waco this week. Test weights are looking good–58 to 59 pounds with yields of 40 to 50 bushels per acre.” Mark Hodges, Executive Director, Oklahoma Wheat Commission, reported in to farm broadcaster Ron Hays this week that an elevator in Walters, OK, had taken in a couple thousand bushels of wheat at mid-week with an outstanding test weight of 61 pounds per bushel.
