The 2008 Pacific Northwest soft white harvest is winding down in Oregon and Washington, and Idaho is not too far behind. The National Agricultural Statistic Service reported that 88.2, 98.5, and 92.6 percent of the crop were harvested in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, respectively, as of September 7, 2008. This week’s sample averages had the following changes and similarities from last week: test weight decreased 0.1 lb/bu 59.0 lb/bu (77.7 kg/hl), moisture content increased 0.1 percentage point to 9.4 percent, protein remained the same at 11.2 percent, and falling number value stayed the same at 324 seconds.
