SW
The 2006 soft white wheat harvest slowed in Washington, while Oregon and Idaho are at a similar and faster pace, respectively, than last year. This week’s SW samples mainly consist of 36% from north central Oregon, 26% from east central Washington, 13% from southeastern Washington, and 9% from southeastern Idaho. So far, the cumulative averages show US #1 SW grade, low moisture content at 8.7%, protein remained at 10.4%, and sound falling number values are at 338 seconds. The weather continues to be hot and dry in most areas of the Pacific Northwest wheat country.
