Harvest Report - August 11, 2006
SW
The 2006 soft white wheat harvest is slightly ahead of pace in Idaho and Washington, but Oregon is slower than the five-year average. This week’s SW samples mainly consist of 47 percent from east central Washington, 14 percent from north central Oregon, and 9 percent each from northeast Oregon and northeast Washington. This week’s cumulative averages showed US #1 SW grade with test weight at 60.8 lb/bu (80.0 kg/hl), low moisture content at 8.6 percent, protein slightly decreased at 10.3 percent, and sound falling number value at 335 seconds. The hot weather continues to help speed up the harvest in most areas of the Pacific Northwest wheat country.
