Harvest Report - September 16, 2011
Durum
Good harvest progress was made this week. As of September 11, durum harvest in ND was 61% complete, up from 32% last week, and similar to 62% last year, but behind the five-year average of 73%. Harvest in Montana was 57% complete, which is ahead of 49% at this time last year, but behind the five-year average of 71%. As of September 15, the average grade was 2 HAD with test weight at 59.0 lb/bu (76.8 kg/hl) slightly up from 58.8 lb/bu (76.6 kg/hl) for last week; total defects were at 3.3%, down from 4.4% for last week; and HVAC at 88%, up from 86.3% for last week. Protein, dockage, and falling number remained unchanged from last week. The falling number of 389 seconds indicates that the crop harvested to date is sound.
