The 2008 Pacific Northwest wheat harvest progress is more than one week behind in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington compared to last year. Although behind last year's harvest progress at this time, weather conditions are very favorable in the Pacific Northwest. This first week's soft white samples mainly consist of 50 percent from north central and northeastern Oregon and 42 percent from western and north central Washington. This week's limited number of sample averages indicated that good test weight at 59.3 lb/bu (78.0 kg/hl), low moisture content at 8.5 percentage points, high protein at 11.0 percentage points, and sound falling number value at 332 seconds.
