Harvest Report - July 20, 2007
SRW
Early Flour Data.
  • Western Virginia. Milling yield is very good this year, ash value is higher than in 2006 but still acceptable and absorption is down compared to last year. Cookie W/T is higher. Eastern Virginia. Milling yield is better this year. Absorption is 1% lower and bake data is similar to 2006 results.
  • Eastern Missouri. Milling yield is much higher this year. Flour ash is higher also and farinograph data is unchanged. Bake data is very close to 2006 data.
  • Western Illinois. Milling yield is higher than in 2006 with a slightly higher flour ash. Absorption is down and cookie W/T is higher this year. Eastern Illinois. Milling yield is very good with acceptable flour ash. Absorption is 2.5% higher. Cookie W/T is higher.

Late Flour Data.
  • Western Virginia. Flour ash is higher, compared to 2006, as is the milling yield. Farinograph and bake testing results are very similar to last year. Eastern Virginia. Milling yield is down, compared to last year, with a fairly high flour ash content. Absorption is significantly lower. Bake data is equal to 2006.
  • Eastern Illinois. Milling yield is much better this year. Flour ash, farinograph data and bake results are very close to 2006 results. Western Illinois. Compared to 2006 results, milling yield has increased, but so has the flour ash content. Absorption is 1% lower. Bake and cookie W/T values are equal to 2006.
  • Southern Indiana. Milling yield is much higher this year, absorption is 1% lower, and cookie W/T is higher.
  • Kentucky. Milling yield is higher this year. Flour ash is acceptable and absorption and bread volume are lower. Cookie W/T is slightly higher.

Early wheat data for Eastern Shore Maryland indicate average test weight is higher this year while protein average is slightly lower. Falling number value average is higher with all samples above 300. Late wheat data for Eastern Shore Maryland show test weight is higher than last year and protein is unchanged. Falling number value is higher, but there are still some samples with low values.

The average test weight and 1000 kernel weight in Western Maryland are higher this year. Protein is just slightly lower. Falling number value is higher than 2006 results but still low.

Late wheat data for Eastern Missouri show average test weight and 1000 kernel weight are down this year. Protein is equivalent to 2006 results. Average falling number value is down with a low of 123.
