SRW samples from southern and central Arkansas are being analyzed and data from North Carolina should be available next week. As of today, although official grade data is not yet available, CII testing shows an average test weight for southern Arkansas of 58.7 lb/bu (77.3 kg/hl) compared to 57.1 (75.2 kg/hl) last year, and 59.9 lb/bu (78.8 kg/hl) compared to 57.0 lb/bu (75.1 kg/hl) for the central area of the state. Falling number values are quite low in the southern area with some values indicating sprout damage. All samples received to date from central Arkansas are above 300. Protein content is similar to the 2009 average in the southern part of the state and slightly lower in the central region.

Harvest is in progress into the northern area of North Carolina, but no testing has been completed for this state. Virginia should begin harvesting this weekend, but the remaining states do not anticipate starting until at least next week.
