Harvest Report - October 2, 2009
HRS
After a month of above normal temperatures, there have been more seasonal temperatures this week in the hard red spring growing area. According to the North Dakota Wheat Commission, 94 percent of the crop has been harvested compared to an average of 98 percent by this date. Harvest is complete in South Dakota, 98 percent complete in Minnesota, 95 percent in Montana and 91 percent in North Dakota. The only change in data to note is a slight increase in thousand kernel weight. All other parameters are virtually the same as last week. The last samples to be included in the composites will arrive in the lab on Monday. Preliminary distributions indicate approximately 51% of the samples analyzed had a test weight of 62.0 lb/bu (81.5 kg/hl) or more, and approximately 87% of the samples analyzed had a falling number of 350 seconds or more.
