Harvest Report - August 19, 2011
HRS
Harvest is 2-3 weeks behind the five-year average as a result of late planting in the spring wheat growing region. Approximately 10% of the samples have been collected, most of which were from South Dakota with a few from North Dakota and Minnesota. The average test weight is 58.4 lb/bu (76.9 kg/hl) compared to 61.5 lb/bu (80.9 kg/hl) last year and the five year average of 61.1 lb/bu (80.4 kg/hl). The average protein content is 15.5% compared to 13.9% last year and 14.2% for the five-year average. The crop is sound with a falling number value of 407 seconds.  The average DHV is 80% compared to 73% last year and the five-year average. Dryer weather in next few days should allow producers to get into fields that have been too wet to harvest.
