Harvest Report - July 20, 2012
SRW

All of the SRW harvest results are final this week with the exception of the grading data, which will have additional information next week.  The final samples tested this week did not alter the cumulative data compared to the previous week.  Compared to 2011 final wheat data, protein at 12% MB is just 0.3% lower, falling number value is virtually the same and thousand kernel weight has increased 2.4 grams.  The current grading data shows an increase in test weight of 1.1 lb/bu (1.5 kg/hl).  The remaining grade data is equivalent to last year’s final cumulative results.

Data compiled from Virginia this past week indicates an increase in average test weight and thousand kernel weight compared to 2011.  Test weight did decrease slightly from the early harvest to the late harvest.  Correspondingly, the laboratory milling yield has increased.  These same trends can be seen in Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.  Farinograph absorption is trending just slightly higher this year across the growing region tested.  Bread volume and cookie spread are both trending lower this year compared to 2011.
