Harvest Report - June 9, 2006
SRW
Soft red winter wheat production provides a slightly brighter spot in the overall US wheat production numbers, with 2006 production estimated at approximately 358 million bushels, above the May estimate of 356 million bushels and significantly higher than last year's 309 million bushels.

The SRW harvest is progressing with the receipt of 22 samples from Arkansas this week. Arkansas harvest is virtually complete with activity moving further into southeast Missouri. Harvest in that area has been relatively unhampered by weather until just the past few days. North Carolina is also in the early stages, although, no samples have been received from this area yet as intermittent rains and storms are hampering a steady progression of cutting. Test weights appear good with the average over 61 lbs/bu (80.2 kg/hl) and thousand kernel weights reflecting plump berries at 32 gm. No falling number issues have been seen yet.
