Harvest Report - September 23, 2011
Durum
Good harvest progress continued this week. As of September 18, the durum harvest in ND was 82% complete, up from 61% for last week and similar to the five-year average of 83%. Harvest in MT was 74% complete, up from 57% for last week but behind the five-year average of 80%. As of September 22, the average grade was 2 HAD with a small improvement in test weight from 59.0 lb/bu (76.8kg/hl) to 59.4 lb/bu (77.3 kg/hl) and 1000-kernel weight from 35.5 g for last week to 36.1 g for this week. Overall, the quality was similar to last week. Falling number remained high at 392 seconds indicating that the crop harvested to date is sound.
