The Pacific Northwest wheat harvest is about one week behind in Idaho, Washington, and Oregon compared to last year. The weather in the major wheat producing areas of the PNW continues to be favorable for harvest. This week’s 78 soft white samples consist of 61% from western, north central, northeastern, and southeastern Washington, 23% from northern and southern Idaho, and 16% from western, southeastern, north central, and northeastern Oregon. This week’s weighted averages indicate a good test weight at 60.6 lb/bu (79.8 kg/hl), low moisture content at 9.8%, low protein at 9.2%, and good falling number value at 311 seconds.
