Harvest Report - August 20, 2010

Producers made modest harvest progress in the Hard Red Spring Wheat growing region due to scattered showers last week. Approximately 29% of the spring wheat samples have been collected and analyzed for quality.  Most of the samples collected have been from South Dakota, Minnesota, South Central and North Eastern North Dakota. Average test weight is up slightly from both last week's  and last year's average to 62.0 lb/bu (81.5 kg/hl).  The average protein is down slightly to 13.9% from last week's average of 14.2% .  The falling number average is 394 seconds indicating a sound wheat crop.   The grading data is similar to last year's final  values.
