HRS
Dry conditions have allowed producers to make progress on the HRS harvest. Warm temperatures are needed for the crop to finish ripening and dry out so that producers can make up lost time. The average test weight is 60.9 lb/bu (80.1 kg/hl) similar to 61.0 lb/bu (80.2 kg/hl) last year and the five-year average of 60.8 lb/bu (80.0 kg/hl). The average protein content is 13.9% compared to 14.3% last year and 14.4% for the five-year average. The crop remains sound with a falling number value of 399. Approximately 25% of the samples have been collected with South Dakota almost complete.
