The 2009 Pacific Northwest soft white wheat harvest progress is slightly ahead in all three states of Idaho, Oregon, and Washington compared to the same time last year. Oregon harvest is essentially finished and Washington is nearing completion. This week’s sample averages had the following changes and similarities from last week: test weight decreased 0.1 pounds to 59.8 lb/bu (78.7 kg/hl), moisture content increased 0.1 percentage point to 9.2 percent, protein remained the same at 10.3 percent, and falling number value stayed similar at 324 seconds.
