The 2009 Pacific Northwest soft white harvest progress remains at a similar pace in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington compared to the same time last year, and harvest in Oregon is essentially finished. This week’s SW samples mainly consist of 35 percent from northeastern and southeastern Washington, 23 percent from north central and northeastern Oregon, 20 percent from east central Washington, and 18 percent from southern Idaho. This week’s sample averages had the following changes and similarities from last week: test weight decreased by 0.1 pounds to 59.9 lb/bu (78.8 kg/hl), moisture content increased by 0.1 percentage points to 9.2 percent, protein content remained the same at 10.3 percent, and falling number value stayed similar at 322 seconds.
